Arrived in Tonga just ahead of Cyclone Ami.
Let me tell you, a box is no place to be during a cyclone.
I'd been planning to go to Fiji, but the flight was diverted because of the weather. Why they chose to divert to Tonga, directly in the path of the cyclone, I'll never understand.
I survived the four-foot flood waters, thanks to thoughtful positioning of my box in a sturdy building on higher ground.
I don't know if I'll make it to Fiji or not. There's still no estimate of the damage there.
In the meantime, now that the storm has passed, rural Tonga seems like a nice place for a basement skunk.
