In 2004, we went on a bicycling adventure in Gettysburg. We stayed at the Drummer Boy Campground and rode through the Gettysburg Military Park.
Evaluation
Drummer Boy was great. The cabins were comfortable and the arrangement of the bathrooms was particularly nice. The road between Drummer Boy and Gettysburg was not safe for bicycling, however, so we ended up driving the bikes into town and riding from the visitor's center. Our favorite place for breakfast was Ernie's Texas Lunch -- our littlest one appreciated being able to get a hot-dog for breakfast. The park was good, although there are almost no amenities for bicyclists. There is an equestrian trail that excludes bicycles. The roads have all been designed with cars and buses in mind and they don't present problems for cyclists in most places, the park would do well to increase their support for cyclists because it's a great park to bicycle: the scale is perfect for cycling.
