Yesterday afternoon, Alisa and the boys came around 3:30 to my office and sprung me to get out an enjoy the nice weather. It was truly glorious: clear breezy with temperatures in the mid 70s.We went to a wooden playground in Holyoke to let the children run around like lunatics. After that we went to Kahunaville. Kahunaville is a Hawaiian-themed restaurant that has a giant arcade and some visual attractions: animatronic tortoises and 'Big Kahuna' plus a 'water show' with synchronized music, fountains and lights. They seem like they're not doing particularly well. The 'Big Kahuna and a bunch of the games were broken. They had recently had a minor fire in the lights for the water show and some of the lights weren't working -- it just seems to be getting run down and shabby. The recession is hitting everyone. I got the 'island paella' which was pretty good. While we were waiting for the food, I took the boys into the arcade, which they enjoyed. After dinner we went to the Disney store and checked out the Lilo & Stitch stuff. They had a very impressive Stitch halloween costume which fit Daniel pretty well and wasn't even extraordinarily expensive ($35). I was pleased to see that by buying the soundtrack from Amazon.com, I saved $2.50. We ended up not getting anything, but it was fun to look. We stopped a few other places and eventually got home around 9pm -- it was a nice outing with the family.
