Tonight I'm finally trying to print my solstice cards. I created them more than a week ago, but was dismayed to discover that color lasercopying is $1/page at the place we usually go. In addition, in spite of waiting at the counter for 10 minutes, no-one was available to wait on me, so I left. I had considered simply printing them in black and white -- there really isn't that much color anyway -- but decided to try them on my ink-jet. They're OK. So I guess I'll do it that way. I'll probably run the printer out of ink, but that's OK. I use the printer so little, that it's probably a good idea to use up the ink cartridge and install another one anyway.
I really do print almost nothing. Alisa is constantly printing this thing or that thing but I seemingly hardly print anything. Well, that's not strictly true -- this semester, I've been teaching and so I've printed a fair amount. I printed syllabi, student writings for critique, and my comments on student papers. Almost all of the documents for the course, though, have been electronic. That is how I published the descriptions of most of the assigned projects. I didn't receive any complaints from students (that I'm aware of -- I haven't see student evaluations yet). For the most part, I think if they had to choose, almost all students would rather have electronic versions, because they don't have to worry about keeping track of them.
