I was exhausted yesterday and went home early to get some extra rest. I dutifully checked my email several times, but managed to take a nap and spent the evening with Alisa and the kids watching Castle in the Sky. Castle in the Sky seemed much more like a traditional adventure story -- a Disney story, complete with orphans, even.

This morning, I rode my bike into work again -- my seat is toughening up already. I should be able to start taking longer rides this week, even.

We got a new camera in the BCRC this morning: a Nikon Coolpix 5000. It seems like a great camera, only so complicated its going to take us a while to get the hang of it. Look for pictures later.

Today was national "Take Dan'l To Lunch" day. As I suspected Dan'l wanted to go to the Hatch to get fries. Afterwards we took the bus home and then took Lucy to go see the bloodroot blooming. Lucy had mentioned the sun was shining, so I left my jacket in my office and was rather chilly walking about. Silly me.

In the afternoon, Randy stopped by to brood about the newest round of proposed budget cuts. The governor, house and the senate appear to be competing to see who can produce the grimmest FY2004 budget. The proposed house plan is described by the Globe as House budget slashes higher education. I try not to worry too much about this so early in the spring -- its still months until there will actually be a budget and things begin to happen (ie, limbs and organs start getting hacked away). Until then, there is just an uneasy calm. My response is to look at the want ads in the chronicle. Sigh...
