George Bush says he has no doubts that lying to the American people in order to justify a war of aggression was the right thing to do. At least the NYTimes is running the story, albeit by letting Bush tell his side of the story. On CNN the story is Democrats want uraniam case probed. I guess only Democrats are interested in the truth. At Truthout, there is an Interview with Ray McGovern a long-time CIA analyst who says
There's an inscription at the entrance to the CIA, chiseled into the marble there, which reads, "You Shall Know The Truth, And The Truth Shall Set You Free."
But, according to a CIA advisor, Bush didn't want to hear that the reports about uranium were false: "He said that if the current operatives working for the CIA couldn't prove the story was true, then the agency had better find some who could. He said he knew the story was true and so would the world after American troops secured the country."
Just like Bush knows that tax cuts are the right thing to do both when there's a surplus and when there's a deficit. It's a one-size-fits-all world.
And then there's Donald Rumsfeld
As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know.
