After the busy day yesterday, everyone is taking things easy this morning. The boys are playing gameboy, I'm writing in my journal, and Alisa and Rick are still asleep. Well, Micki is fixing breakfast, so I guess I exaggerate. This morning has started out cool with a brisk breeze. The plan is for another fun-filled day of water sports: sailboating, knee-boarding, tubing, and fishing -- Daniel is particularly excited about fishing, although I doubt that he, personally, is willing to fish long enough to actually catch a fish.

I still think invading Iraq was the wrong thing to do, but I've come up with a new hypothesis for why the Bush administration decided to hurry up and push it through when they did: they wanted to use their assets in Saudi Arabia while they still could. Immediately after the war, the US military began shifting resources out of Saudi Arabia and into Qatar. I've seen suggestions that investigation related to the Sept 11th attacks shows much greater support by Saudi Arabia for the hijackers than was previously admitted. It may be that the US wanted to get Iraq "settled" before withdrawing support for the Saudis. Unfortunately, I think its unlikely that use of force will "settle" the problems in Iraq.

Just off the end of the pier there's a little line of floats attached to crab traps. Early in the morning, a boat comes along to service them. When we watched on Monday, each trap had three or four good-sized crabs in it. We've been told which is the restaurant in town to go to for a good soft-shelled crab sandwich. Alisa always has to get one while we're down here. She says it's like "eating a spider".

On the drive down, we stopped at a gas-station to fill the tank and pick up some snacks. Among the drinks we found Ohana brand fruit-punch and iced-tea. We had to get them, of course.

In the car, however, Aliss started reading the ingredients and decided that she wouldn't drink either one. The tea doesn't contain any tea (just "natural flavors") and the fruit punch contains, among other things "glycerol ester of wood rosin". In spite of that, I think it tastes pretty good, even if it doesn't have a picture of Stitch on the bottle.

I noticed last night that the Amherst Esperanto site has gone live. There's no information yet. Hopefully I can get that settled quickly after I get back and then begin putting up posters.
