A quiet weekend at home with the family. Some reading, some StarCraft, and good quiet home fun. At the farmer's market on Saturday Lucy and I got fixings to make chili. I put in a jalapeno pepper and a cayenne pepper, which didn't seem like so terribly much, but it was too spicy for Lucy. It didn't seem so good at lunch yesterday, but warmed up for dinner tonight, it was just fine. Chili always tastes better the next day.
I was pleased to find that StarCraft works fine through the new router. The documentation had suggested that it might not work to have multiple players behind the router, but it wasn't a problem. Charlie was convinced that the game runs slower with the new router, but I don't think that's true. If anything, it may be congestion on the network due to the return of the students. During the initial rollout of the cable modems, I remember that there was a lot of concern about the network becoming congested. In general, we haven't had problems, but I have noticed decreased network performance at times, which I attribute to the increased network traffic of the students.
Tonight, George Bush is supposed to tell us that the reconstruction of Iraq is worth billions of dollars and hundreds of American casualities. Having invaded Iraq, I don't see that we have much choice. Leaving, I believe, would be worse, but the entire enterprise was a mistake. The entire project should only have been done under the auspices of the UN to begin with. I will be surprised if the UN can be cajoled into stepping into the quagmire now. Seeing the neocons' dreams crumbling would be satisfying if it weren't for the horrendous loss of life.
