Last night I saw a reference to blender. Shortly after it was opensourced, I had checked and not found any binaries for MacOS X, but there are now. Blender is incredible! I'll definitely be installing it in the BCRC next week. It's clearly yet another thing that requires months of practice to get good at it, but it looks really easy to do simple stuff. The biggest drawback for Mac users is that its interface assumes a three-button mouse (and it violates a bunch of MacOS human interface guidelines). But those are small potatoes compared with the benefit of having a robust 3D modelling environment to play with.

I still haven't had a chance to build student accounts for Muppyville. I built accounts for the teachers on Friday morning. I wanted to send a note to parents before I built the accounts (since it will send email), but I didn't get a chance to finish the email before I left on Friday. Maybe I'll do that this morning.

Another storm has blown in. It started snowing early this afternoon and has been accumulated at a tremendous pace. Skating was canceled and I predict that schools will be closed tomorrow. There's probably also a good chance the University will be closed too.

We got a bottle of champagne to celebrate having maintained our diet for the first two weeks. Alisa said, "I thought this diet was supposed to help with mood swings. Now it seems like I'm angry all the time!" I said, "Well, you're not having mood swings are you?" I'll probably get in trouble for writing that.
