This morning I'm attending a meeting about the proposed Information Commons. Interesting stuff. I'll be updating that page periodically as I take notes.

It was a good meeting with a couple of nice presentations. My favorite part was when the Math Emporium guy explained why they use Macintoshes. (They have 550 computer workstations in a giant lab where students study introductory mathematics at Virginia Tech). He said, "They're so much more supportable, you just couldn't do something like this with Windows. How many people do you think we have to keep all those workstations running?" People guessed "Five!" and then "Two!" He continued, "You're getting the right idea, but there's just one guy. And I have to give him extra work because this doesn't keep him busy!"
