People in the department expect me to be up-to-date on Apple equipment, so I treat it as part of my professional responsibilities to read the Apple rumor sites. (Not all of them, of course, just the reputable ones. :-) I had heard that Apple is getting ready to rev the Powerbook line -- probably not with G5s yet -- that probably won't happen for a while yet. But that doesn't keep people from 
imagining it.
I took a short ride with Charlie yesterday on the trails behind Marks Meadow -- there are a lot of wonderful trails back there! I convinced Charlie to try shifting his gears again and he was thrilled to discover how they work. We had a nice ride and managed to get home before it started raining. Unfortunately, at one point I got bogged down in some mud and, probably cranking too hard while downshifting, I managed to bend my smallest chainwheel. Even worse, the repair place I called said they can't work on it until next Wednesday. :-( Maybe I'll just buy a chainwheel and replace it myself.
