I was a bit apprehensive about class today: I wasn't sure how the transition from research proposals to research project would work. I needn't have worried -- it went great. I wrote a long blog entry about it in my course blog.
While I was getting ready for class, I found an amazing site that has GIS Mapping resources for Massachusetts. There's an applet to do GIS stuff called OLIVER which is incredible enough, but there's also a tool that has 1/2 meter resolution Ortho Maps. There are a bunch of other kinds of maps too: topo maps and bio maps. This stuff is awesome. One of these days, I should work on getting up to speed on Grass -- the free GIS system. It's hard to find the time. Here's our house -- the cherry tree must have been in bloom that day.
After class, I came home and took a good ride. I picked out a nice route that I could extend if I wanted. It had cooled off just a bit from the high of the day, but was still comfortable. There was a strong breeze blowing again, so I decided to be conservative and took the shorter route. Good ride.
