Yesterday, I had to swap some partitions around on the server at work. While I was tar'ing things over, I found this list of fun things to do while watching Lord of the Rings. What a scream! When I mentioned it to Phil, he said that when he had first seen it, the title was truncated and he believed it was a list of things to do while watching the Passion. I'm not sure, but that may even be funnier.

Earlier this week, I set up a mailing list for the Amherst Democratic Town Committee. Selectedhosting uses ezmlm. It seems pretty good -- it does some things better than Majordomo, which is what I'm used to using. I hadn't sent anything to the list yet, but today I got an unsubscribe request, which suggests that when I subscribed people, they got some kind of automated announcement from the list. So today I sent a message about the list to the people I subscribed.

Class is today. This should be the midway point for the student's research projects. They're due next week and then I plan to use the last week for turning in their last assignment (a reflective essay), final remarks, and student evaluations. I've tried to have the last significant project due before the last week of class, mainly so that they can begin shifting their resources into their other classes that may need more attention. It's been a good semester, I think.

I got in a good bike ride on the day before yesterday. In March, I was mostly riding towards the river, staying on the floodplain where it's flat. More recently, I've been shifting toward the east, where the hills are. I rode up some tremendous hills on Tuesday and was pleased to find that I could. One of these days, I'll ride up the Pelham hill. That could easily take a whole morning to climb (and then 15 minutes to get back.)
