I liked this article today, although I think it's hyperbole to say "we've lost the war". We probably failed to win the war when we let looters rampage through Bagdad, but we haven't lost the war yet -- with Bush in power, we're likely to keep losing the war for months to come. But I liked the idea of the need to forge an "anti-empire movement" by getting anti-globalists to join forces with the anti-war movements.
I was interested to see this article after my experience trying to run Muppyville. I had never heard the term "Griefers" before, but it seems to fit quite well with the one student we eventually had to ban from the game. He went to great lengths to find ways to taunt or take advantage of other people. It was remarkable how destructive his effects were: it really only takes one or two bad experiences of running into someone like that to simply make everyone he comes into contact with quit. It was interesting to see what strategies that big companies are trying to combat the problem.
