Our cherry tree was at its peak today. I couldn't come home for lunch, but as soon as I got home, I made myself a drink (if you look, you can see it even matches) and went out to sit under the cherry tree to enjoy it for its one brief moment of glory. I was hoping we could get to enjoy it for a few days for once, but the forecast is for rain tonight and wind tomorrow, which suggests that today was the only day to enjoy the blossoms in their fullness. The tree seems to follow a two-year cycle with the boughs laden with blossoms some years and many fewer blossoms on alternate years. This is a peak year. It's sure beautiful while it lasts.

It would have been good weather for a bike ride today -- a bit hot, but otherwise excellent. Unfortunately, my bike is still in the shop. Lucy and I took our bikes in yesterday to get replacement tires and tune ups. I picked out some expensive cross-training tires. I'm hopeful for less rolling resistance and better cornering. They certainly look spiffy. They told us our bikes would be ready today, but rebuffed me when I called to check on them. Evidently the shop is backed up, which isn't surprising given the time of year.

I'm working on writing the narrative for an award on using technology for assessment. Unfortunately, I can only apply for one even though I have two things that could both fit well. I've written two narratives while I try to decide which one to use for the application.
