We drove in this morning to Boston for me to attend the Massachusetts Teacher Association (MTA) annual meeting. Alisa and the boys are going to hang out and visit museums. We parked at Alewife and took the T to the Hynes Convention Center.

The MTA provided a "standing lunch" in the exhibition hall. I wandered around scarfing the free sandwiches and checking out the vendor displays. I'm always surprised at how worthless these exhibitions seem to be.

The business meeting had some good union bits, showing videos of teacher actions in trying to get contracts funded -- some successsful and some still not settled. During the videos, they had the chorus singing union songs, like Union Maid and Roll the Union. Great stuff.

Some contentious bits at the meetings this afternoon. I would have blogged from there, but they want $25/day for wireless there. Boneheads.

I'm leeching off the wireless network at the Sheraton (or maybe it's the Starbucks. Who can tell?) Now a group is going to dinner with some UMass Boston folks. Should be good.
