When I submitted Milos kaj Donos, it took a few tries before I managed to get it into the hands of the editor of Literatura Foiro. I didn't know how it would be received -- it's a bit blunt as a story. So I've been waiting to see what they would say. Today I got my reply: It's been accepted! We had a toast to my success with a bottle of champagne we've had in the fridge for a while waiting for the right moment.

I finally decided that Rob was right and set up a Drupal site as an experiment for Esperanto-USA. My original goal had been to build a quick-and-dirty static site to replace the current junky site while we considered options for a new, well-grounded site. But that really satisfied no-one. A bunch of people pointed out the short-comings of the site template I'd built and relatively few people were willing to actually contribute content, so I decided to junk it and start over using Drupal, like Rob had originally suggested. Our goal is to finish the new site during the first real weekend in January (the 7th and 8th). Rob is hosting a LAN party at his house in Austin and we'll finish the site, write a bunch of wikipedia pages, and have a great time.

I got started with Drupal building a website for the Amherst Democratic Town Committee. As is typical, however, there is confusion about what the address should be, where it should be hosted, etc. Doing things with other people is frustrating. Other people have ideas too -- and they suffer from the misguided aprehension that their ideas are right. And then you can't get an answer out of people: do you want me to do it or not. Sheesh!
