I spent the weekend at the Aŭtuna Renkontiĝo de Esperanto at Silver Bay in upstate New York. It was held at an old resort nestled in the Adirondacks along the short of Lake George. It rained pretty much all weekend. The fall colors are terrible anyway -- people told me it was the warmest September on record and the leaves simply haven't turned -- so we didn't miss much by not being able to spend much time outside.   Mi pasis la semajnfino ĉe la Aŭtuna Renkontiĝo de Esperanto ĉe Silver Bay en ŝtata NovJorkio. Okazis ĉe malnova feriejo kuŝanta inter la Adirondak montoj laŭ la bordo de Lago George. Pluvis plimalpli la tuta semajnfino. La aŭtunaj koloroj estas teruraj ĉiaokaze -- onidiras ke estis la plej varma septembro iam kaj la folioj simple ne ŝanĝiĝis -- do ni mitrafis nenion per resti en la konstruaĵoj.

 For the first time, I went with Alisa and the boys. They did one hour of "baza kurso", but spent most of their time away from the kongreso. They tried the rock-climbing wall and did archery -- and spent a fair amount of time playing electronic games with other children who were there. Poor Alisa was trying to fight off a cold and, as soon as we got home, went to bed.   Por unua fojo, mi iris kun Alisa kaj la filoj. Ili faris unu horon de baza kurso, sed pasis la plejmulto el sia tempo for de la kongresejo. Ili provis rokgrimpi muron kaj arkpafis -- kaj pasis sufiĉe multan tempon ludante elektronike kun aliaj infanoj. Kompatinda Alisa luktis gripon kaj, tuj post ni revenis hejmen, enlitiĝis. 
 They did watch me do my haiku reading. I read the haiku from Mia Lando. It was good -- it didn't accord terribly well with the other things people did, which were mostly light entertainment, but several people commented to me that it was good.   Ili rigardis min legi hajkojn. Mi legis la hajkojn de Mia Lando. Estis bona -- ĝi ne bone akordis la aliajn aferojn oni faris, kiuj plejparte estis amuzaj diversaĵoj, sed kelkaj homoj menciis al mi ke ĝi bonis.

 There were a lot of familiar faces, but some new ones. I was particularly pleased to meet Eliazar who was visiting from Mexico. We had several nice conversations.   Estis multaj konataj vizaĝoj, sed kelkaj novaj. Min speciale plaĉis renkontis Eliazar, kiu vizitis de Meksikio. Ni havis kelkajn bonajn konversaciojn.

 I also met Geoffrey Greatrex, the president of the Kanada Esperanto Asocio. He must have learned Esperanto while at Oxford since he spoke it with a distinct British accent. He was a fabulous speaker. He's hiding behind the post.   Mi ankaŭ renkontis Geoffrey Greatrex, la prezidanto de la Kanada Esperanto Asocio. Devas esti ke li lernis Esperanton en Britio ĉar li parolas kun distingebla brita akĉento. Li kaŝas sin malantaŭ la fosto. 
 There was a greater focus on literature this year. Francisko Lorrain contributed a very nice talk on Icelandic Sagas and several other bits. There was a lovely Literatura Horo where various people offered reviews of new, or favorite, works.   Estis pli da fokuso pri literatura ĉijare. Francisko Lorrain kontribuis tre bonan prelegon pri Islandaj sagaoj kaj kelkaj aliaj eroj. Estis bonega Literatura Horo kie diversajn homojn ofertis recenzojn pri novaj, aŭ plej ŝatataj, verkoj.
